Our next Safeguarding Foundation level training session will be held at:
- The Spire, Poole on
- Saturday 6th June 2026, from
- 9:30am to 1:00pm
This session is an important opportunity for those in key roles within our churches to complete their safeguarding training, ensuring we continue to provide safe and supportive environments for all.
The training will be led by the very experienced Sarah Badley, with support from the Circuit Administrator and Safeguarding Officer, Michelle Dobson.

Who should attend?
The Foundation Module is required for a wide range of church roles, including:
- Presbyters with an active preaching or pastoral ministry
- Supernumeraries with an active preaching or pastoral ministry
- Deacons with an active preaching or pastoral ministry
- Pre-ordination students and probationers
- Lay employees and volunteer workers with pastoral responsibility
- Circuit stewards
- Local preachers
- Those training for local preaching or worship leading
- Circuit and Church safeguarding representatives
- Pastoral visitors
- Church stewards
- Anyone working with children in the name of the church
- Anyone involved in activities for vulnerable adults
- Choir, music, or drama leaders where children or vulnerable adults are involved
- Young leaders (aged 16–18)
- Monitoring and support group members (for safeguarding contracts)
- Lay employees and volunteer workers with pastoral responsibility
If you are unsure whether this training applies to your role, please check with your Church Safeguarding Officer.
Refresher training
A refresher session is required every four years. If your safeguarding training was last completed more than four years ago, you should attend this session to keep your training up to date.
Where the Foundation and Advanced Modules are required, following attendance at both courses, only a repeat of the Advanced Module will be necessary in future years.
