The history of Methodism in Lytchett Matravers
A Methodist Society was formed in 1778 by John Parsons. He also donated land for the first building which was constructed in 1824 and had a thatched roof. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire in 1850. A new building was erected in the same site and opened in 1853, being extended at the front in 1910. The construction methods have been made visible in the vestry.
