Poole Bay Methodist Circuit is looking for a creative, passionate and committed Families Worker to join the team at Bournemouth Methodist Church.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a heart for people and a passion for helping families discover community, faith and connection.

About the role
  

Are you a creative and passionate individual who is excited to build family relationships across the church and community and lead people to faith? If so, we’d LOVE to hear from you.

We are looking for a dynamic and committed person to work with children, parents, carers, grandparents and family units of all kinds. The successful applicant will support our congregation in developing existing and new work across the range of family opportunities for mission and outreach in the church and its busy community café.

With a pastoral heart, you should have relevant experience of developing activities across the generations to meet a variety of needs and in helping to inspire, support and grow volunteers and leaders.

Working alongside an experienced Methodist minister and existing volunteers, you will need a professional and flexible attitude to work, and the empathy to work in a faith environment.

The opportunity
 

• Location: Bournemouth Methodist Church
• Hours: 30 hours per week
• Salary: £27,373 per annum pro rata
• Contract: Three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to additional funding
• Closing date: 28 October 2026
• Interviews: Week commencing 9 November 2026

There is a genuine Occupational Requirement for the holder of this post to be a practising Christian, under the Genuine Occupational Requirement regulations specified in the Employment Equality Regulations 2003, and to be in sympathy with the values and beliefs of the Methodist Church.

The post requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.
