Climate Justice for All (CJ4A) are incredibly excited to announce the release of their Open Letter ahead of COP26 (the United Nations Climate Change Conference).
The Open Letter is addressed to Alock Sharma, COP26 President, asking him to listen to the voices of Methodists in Britain who are concerned about the climate crisis.
The letter came from consultation sessions that CJ4A held with Methodists in Britain earlier this year. CJ4A wanted to find out what people wanted to say to our leaders at COP and the letter captures the heart and passion of what was shared during these sessions.
"We wanted to make sure we were properly representing the voices of Methodists in Britain who so boldly shared their anger and frustration at the way in which the climate crisis is handled by our national and global leaders. I was really inspired by the way in which despite all the anger, people had not given up and were prepared to call upon their leaders to do what it takes to achieve climate justice for all." Mollie Pugmire, British CJ4A Worker.
CJ4A are asking Methodists in Britain to sign their Open Letter and then share it with as many in their community as possible.
"We want to see as many Methodists across Britain as possible supporting our Open Letter to Alok Sharma ahead of COP26. Our consultation sessions allowed our letter to be moulded by the voices of Methodists in Britain, this way, I hope people will feel more invested in our letter as so many people played a part in its creation." Mollie Pugmire, British CJ4A Worker.
CJ4A have begun sharing the link to their Open Letter and it will be open for Methodists to sign until the end of the 24th October.
